Rules for Competitions 2009/2010

Open Competitions
There will be two sections in each Open Competition:-
1. Colour Prints and Mono Prints combined
2. Colour and Mono Digital Projected Images

1. Colour Prints and Mono Prints Combined

• Any colour or monochrome print which has not been entered in a previous competition is acceptable.
• The maximum entry per member in each competition is six prints. If it is thought that the total entry is too large to be adequately judged in one evening, the Competition Secretary may reduce the number of entries per member. So that this may be done fairly, competitors are asked to number their entries in order of preference.
• It is not permissible to enter the same image in both the Print and Digital Image competitions.
• There is no minimum print size but it is recommended the longest side of the print (including composites) be 200mm minimum.
• The maximum mount size of any print is 500mm x 400mm.
• The prints to be handed to the Competition Secretary a minimum of one week prior to the competition date.
• A colour and monochrome version of the same print is not acceptable.

2. Colour and Mono Digital Projected Images

• Any digital image which has not been entered in a previous open competition is acceptable.
• Competitors should submit their images in JPEG format which can be sent via Email to DJMorris1@NTLWorld.com or on a CD/memory stick which can be handed/posted to the Competition Secretary. All CDs to be marked with the entrants name. Images to be submitted a minimum of 2 weeks prior to the competition date.
• For assessment and judging, entries will be viewed on a screen using a Digital Projector (much the same as a slide competition).

• All images must be submitted for projection with a canvas size of 1024 x 768 pixels at 100 dpi and saved as “JPG” or “JPEG”. For “Landscape” format the image contained within the canvas should be no more than 1024 pixels wide. For “Portrait” format they should be no more than 768 pixels in height. Any remaining unused area of the canvas should be filled with the colour black so that your image will appear on screen to its best advantage.
• To aid identification, the file name attributed to each image should be; Item number (1 or 2) depending on the number of entries that the entrant submits, TITLE (UPPER CASE) the word “by” and Author’s First and Surname i.e. 1 BAMBURGH SUNSET by David Morris.
• A colour and monochrome version of the same digital image is not acceptable.
• The maximum entry per member in each competition is 4 images
